FREDERICK, Md - Hood College's baseball team takes their final non conference game of the year scoring 11 runs in the first three innings to create too big of a deficit for St. Mary's College of Maryland and win 12-9.
On the Mound

Colby Childs (Berryville, Va./Clarke County) earned the win after three strong innings allowing only one hit and striking out three.

Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) allowed two hits and an earned run in his inning of work

Remi Schaber (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne Collegiate School) pitched two innings allowing two runs on two hits.

Justin Medeiros (Douglas, Ma./Pomfret School) earned the save pitching a spotless ninth inning.

Stephen Sommer (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun) went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School) went 2-for-2 and drove in a run.

Richard Kershow (Eatons Neck, N.Y./Northport) went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Alex Jenkins (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) hit a pair of doubles and drew a walk.
Hood 12, St. Mary's 9

Deja Vu in the first inning struck for the Blazers as a base-hit to right field misplayed by a fielder allowed a run to score and give the Blazers their first run. A Cameron Day (Hagerstown, Md./Clear Spring) sacrifice fly would be the first out of the inning but would score Sommer from third. Hood would string together four straight hits including doubles from Jenkins and Kershow to put up five runs in the inning and then six on a groundout by Quade Gannon (Felton, Del./Lake Forest).

The third inning would start with an Austin Rhue (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) double and a Matthew Stout (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) single before Kershow cranked another double to pile on to the Blazer lead. Kershow later scored on a Sommer triple. Hood would take advantage of errors along the way to amount a 11-0 lead.

After a quiet first three innings, the Seahawks would score in five straight innings to create a save situation. Medeiros would return the Seahawks to goose eggs and a 1-2-3 inning would close out the win.
