WESTMINSTER, Md - Hood College's softball team behind six innings of shutout pitching by Jordan Long (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and a Jocelyn Pfleiger (Quakertown, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) multi-homer game in game two splits the day against McDaniel with a 5-2 loss in game one but a 7-2 win in game two.

Jordan Long (Middletown, Md./Middletown) pitched all seven innings of game two and allowed one earned run and struck out two to earn the win.
At the Plate

Jocelyn Pfleiger (Quakertown, Pa./Dock Mennonite Academy) went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBIs in game one.

Hannah Cohen (North Wales, Pa./North Penn High School) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in game one.

Rebecca Gottleib (Linthicum, Md./North County) went 3-for-5 on the day with three walks and three runs scored.

Robin Charlton (Philadelphia, Pa./MaST Community Charter School II) drew two walks and cashed in an RBI in game one.

McDaniel 5, Hood 2

Gottleib was ambushed early by Green Terror hitting as miscues and a hit put two runners in scoring position. A base hit would score two and run number three would cross via passed ball. Gottleib would settle and allow only two more runs the rest of the game.

The top of the second started with a Charlton double down the left field line and scored via a Pfleiger base hit.

Heidlauf would check in the top of the sixth with a homer to left center with the bases empty to score the Blazers second run.
Hood 7, McDaniel 2

Gottleib continued to do what a leadoff hitter does best and start the inning by reaching first via single. Gottleib would get a light jog around the bases staying just ahead of Pfleiger's home run trot to put the Blazers up 2-0.

Later in the fourth inning, Pfleiger reached on an error and Chloe Saunders (Middletown, Md./Middletown) hit a double to put two ducks on the pond. Cohen would drive in both runs with a base hit to extend the lead to 5-0.

Another 1-2 Blazer punch would occur in the sixth as Gottleib drew a walk just for Pfleiger to leave the yard for the second time on the day to establish a safe 7-0 lead.

The Green Terror would rally in the last inning and score five runs to scare Hood. With the tying run in the box, she grounded out to third base to halt the late inning scare.
