How it Happened
Barton put Hood in a deep hole right away in the first set, starting things off with an 8-1 run. After some back-and-forth scoring, the Bulldogs scored four in a row to go up 18-8, taking a 1-0 match lead a few rallies later with another four-point run.
The Blazers started off the second set on the right foot, keeping pace with the Bulldogs to keep things tied at four. Unfortunately, Barton proceeded to take Hood on a 14-2 run for a commanding lead, only allowing the Blazers to get seven more points before finishing the set for a 2-0 lead.
Hood needed to get something going to have a chance for a comeback, and they got things going the right way with five of the first points thanks to kills from Casas, Bravo, and
Blake Catts (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen). The Blazers held the lead for a bit, but the Bulldogs managed to tie things up at eight with a three-point run just a little later.
After some exchanging of points, Barton went on a small 4-0 run to take a 15-11 lead, and although Hood managed to get within two at 16-14, the Bulldogs would take five of the next six points to extend their lead enough to hold the Blazers back, completing the 3-0 sweep.
For the Opponent
Colton Wilson finished the match with nine kills.
Seth Deppe accumulated 20 digs.
