CHESTER, Pa. – The Hood College women's soccer team could not repeat its four-goal performance against Widener University from last year, falling 1-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth matchup.

How it Happened
The Blazers got off to a hot start with a shot on goal just over three minutes into the match, continuing to pressure the Pride defense, but keeper Araba Abanyie was up to task, keeping the game scoreless through the first ten minutes. Stine was not tested until the 18th minute, but was just as solid as her opposition, keeping the game scoreless into the halftime break.
Although Hood started the second half the same as the first with the offensive pressure from the jump, it still could not find the back of the net, and Widener was eventually able to clear the ball and start an offensive attack of their own. Unfortunately for the Blazers, this attack proved to be successful, as a cross into the box found the head of Erin Quinn who put it just over the head of Stine and into the net for a 1-0 Pride lead.
With just over 15 minutes to play, Hood could not find the equalizer, with its lone shot on goal being knocked away by Abanyie to keep the 1-0 shutout.

Gracelyn Sarni assisted on Quinn's goal.
Abanyie made five saves for the Pride.
Analysis
Widener had a 10-7 edge in shots.
The Pride had three corner kicks while the Blazers had just two.
Hood committed just six fouls compared to 11 for Widener.
Notes
The Blazers drop to 3-9-1 (0-2), while the Pride improve to 5-4-3 (1-1).
