ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Hood College women's volleyball team could not pull off the upset over Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent Eastern University, falling 3-0 in straights sets.

How it Happened
Hood started the match off on the back foot, quickly finding itself down 9-6 but still hanging around with the MAC Commonwealth runner-up in 2024. Although it looked like the Eagles found their groove with a 5-1 run to take a 14-8 lead. The Blazers took it in stride though, bouncing back with a 6-2 run to cut their deficit to just 16-14. Unfortunately, six straight points for Eastern shortly after put the home team ahead 23-15, and Hood could not fight back enough to force overtime before falling behind 1-0 in
the match.
After keeping up with the Eagles early in the second set down just 7-4, Eastern went on a 7-2 run to take a commanding lead, eventually reaching the double-digit advantage at 20-10 before taking the set and a 2-0 match lead.
Down to their last chance, the Blazers were unable to get anything going offensively in set three, with the Eagles jumping out to a 12-3 lead early. Hood would only manage to get five more points the rest of the set and would be sent home with a third conference loss.
For the Opponent
Alexis Standford had the most kills for Eastern with 12.
Sarah Fuery finished the match with 16 assists and three aces.
Notes
Hood falls to 5-13 (1-3), while Eastern moves to 14-5 (3-1).
