ARLINGTON, Va. – The Hood College women's basketball team could not keep up with the offense of Marymount University, falling 78-65 on the road.
Inside the Box Score
Maya Gordon (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) shot 7-11 from the field, leading the Blazers with 19 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.
Jaylah Putman (Jacksonville, Fla./Long Reach) finished with 15 points.

Nyjah Harris (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) dished out five assists.
How it Happened
Hood's offense got off to a very sluggish start, with Marymount scoring the first 15 points of the game. Despite the early struggles, the Blazers managed to gather themselves and get back into the game, finishing the quarter on a 10-2 run to head into the second down just seven points.
The chase was still on to start the second quarter as both teams exchanged baskets and not allowing Hood to make any headway. That changed halfway through the quarter when Putman drained back-to-back three-pointers to get the Blazers within one point at 27-26. A Gordan free throw a minute later tied the game 29-29, but the Saints managed to retake the lead 38-33 before halftime.
Even though Hood got within one point again less than a minute into the third quarter, Marymount's offense managed to heat up again, going on a 12-2 run and restoring its earlier double-digit lead, but managing to maintain it and putting the Blazers behind 56-46 with one quarter to play.
The fourth quarter was a shootout, with Putman hitting another deep shot just 12 seconds in and helping spark a 9-2 run that cut their deficit to just 58-55 with more than eight minutes to play. Unfortunately, that would be as close as Hood would get the rest of the way, as the Saints remembered how to score and snuffed out the Blazers' comeback and hand them the 78-65 loss.
For the Opponent
Catie Kolwey tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Kaylah Barr finished with 21 points.
