FREDERICK Md. - The Hood College Women's lacrosse team dropped a nonconference match against Randolph-Macon College 16-7.

Abby Burnette (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) led the Blazers with three goals.
Julia Gregory (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) finished with two goals and one assist, also tallying three points on the day.
Rachel Harper (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) put two in the back of the net also.
Alivia Hosterman (Danville, Pa./Danville) had 11 saves after 60 minutes in goal.
How it Happened
The Blazers had a promising start to the game as Gregory and Burnette each found the back of the net to give Hood a two-goal lead just four minutes into the first quarter. Although the Yellow Jackets responded with a goal of their own by Evie McNeally, Hood managed to stick in two more as a response. Two minutes after the Randolph-Macon goal the Blazers had a successful clear that resulted in Gregory's second goal of the day. After another two minutes went by the Yellow-Jacket defense decided to over play Gregory as she dished it to an open Harper to give the Blazers a 4-1 lead. Then with just four minutes and thirty-nine seconds left in the quarter Randolph-Macon managed to score two more goals as the scoreboard read 4-3 in favor of Hood heading into the second quarter.
A minute into the second quarter Randolph-Macon got back on the board after a quick man-up goal by Hailey Pierce. This quarter would lean in favor of the Yellow Jackets as RMC scored seven goals straight taking advantage of five extra man opportunities. Hood would not be counted out this quarter; however, as Harper scored for the Blazers on Hood's man-up opportunity with just one minute and twenty-two seconds left. Heading into the second half the score was 10-5 Randolph-Macon.
The third quarter was all Randolph-Macon as the Yellow Jackets went on a four goal scoring spree. Although Hood would dominate the draw control battle this quarter it would be failed clears that were the Blazers' weakness as half of Randolph-Macon's scoring opportunities this quarter were due to clear miscommunications. At the end of this period the Yellow Jackets led 14-5.
The final quarter of the game started with a quick Yellow Jacket goal by Benton just fourty two seconds in. With time running out the Blazers would start putting more pressure on the Randolph-Macon defense as Burnette scored back-to-back goals one off an assist by
Avery Stanley (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) and the other off a free position shot. Although the Blazers would seem to be putting on an offensive run, time was not in Hood's favor as Randolph-Macon managed to score just a minute and fifty-three seconds before the final buzzer to solidify the victory. As the scoreboard showed, zeros the final score of the game was 16-7 in favor of the Yellow Jackets.
Analysis
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Blazers 35-21
Randolph-Macon won the groundball battle 22-17.
The Blazers led in draw controls 15-11.
For the Opponent
Rianna Lowery and Caty Benton both tallied for six points. Lowrey with four goals and two assists and Benton with three goals and three assists.
Anna Snoddy and Evie McNeally both had two goals on the day.
Snoddy and Lydia Lesnevich caused two turnovers for the Yellow Jackets.
Gillian Gladden made five saves after 30 minutes in cage.
