EMMITSBURG, Md. – Baseball wins their opening conference series against Stevenson after a quiet loss in game one 5-1, a stellar outing from

In the Batter's Box
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) would have base knocks in both games, scoring twice and driving in two in game two.

Stevenson 6, Hood 1
Turf conditions in the damp weather were not optimal and caused trouble for fielders. A couple walks to start the second would lead to a groundball which could have led to a double play but instead mishandled leading to the first run for the Mustangs.
The big inning would continue as a walk would score another run and the Blazers would trade outs for runs to end the inning and a five spot would be put up by the end of it.
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) would sneak a ball of the handle past the third baseman for the Blazer's first hit of the day in the bottom of the third.
In the fifth inning,
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) worked a count full and drew a walk. The following Blazers would be unable to move Broughton.
More trouble would ensue in the sixth after a throwing error and a free pass, one runner later would score to add a run onto the deficit.
Hood 14, Stevenson 4
A towering homer to left field would clear the bases and put the Mustangs up 3-0 after only three outs in the game.
In the bottom half, Haines reached safely on a base hit and as
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) attempted to sacrifice, a passed ball would move Haines to the opposite corner with speed. Brennan would lay down a bunt to score Haines to score the first Blazer run.
By this time, it was time for a new story to be written about the day. Smith would go big fly and hit a home run to left field to leadoff the second inning. The next two hitters in
Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School) and Patterson would reach base and eventually score via groundout and misplayed groundball to second base and Hood would have their first lead of the day 4-3.
Patterson would muscle out another hit in the following inning to cash in two more base runners. After a rip passed the third baseman by
Easton Kite (Catharpin, Va./Battlefield), Patterson would score and the Blazers would run away with the game.
James Gruenfelder (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermulen) would enter the chat once again in game two via extra-base hit as he doubled in the fourth for an RBI and cleaned house with a three-run bomb in the sixth inning.
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) would inch closer to his 100
th hit as hit No. 99 would over the popular left field fence for his third career homer.
