FREDERICK, Md. –
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) walks thrice and collects his 100
th career hit on a day where the Blazers draw 10 free passes to first base in the 13-3 win over Notre Dame of Maryland on Wednesday afternoon.
On the Mound
Tyler Knill (Frederick/Frederick) tossed six innings of shutout ball allowing three hits.
In the Batter's Box
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) drew three walks and scored three times. Brennan also grabbed four bags.
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) scored twice and drove in three runs on the day.
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) had a pair of doubles and scored twice.
From the Bullpen
Mason Potter (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) threw an inning and allowed one hit with two strikeouts.
Michael Ashton (King George, Va./King George) and
Remi Schaber (Memphis, Tenn./Lausanne Collegiate School) both threw an inning of relief.
How it Happened
Brennan drew a walk to start the game and made work of good jumps to steal both second and third base before Broughton got the job done via a floating sacrifice fly deep enough to score Brennan.
A leadoff single to start the second inning followed by a walk put traffic on the bases for the Gators. Knill worked a strikeout before
Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) ate up a groundball and tapped third and threw over first for a double play to end the threat.
Rinse and repeat, Brennan would walk again and be moved all the way to third and Broughton would slash a single to left to score him again in the third. Broughton would make it around the bases, the final 90 thanks to a sacrifice fly by
Ryland Weaver (Salisbury, Md./Homeschool).
The Blazers would load the bases in the fourth inning and Ludington would sneak a ball up the middle to score Brennan a third time. Hood would continue to go station to station as Broughton was drilled in the helmet with a pitch to score another. Stout would have the game's first heavy hit with a double over the head of the left fielder to score a pair to pour on. The inning would continue with an RBI groundout by Brown but a throwing error to cut that runner at home would have a second cross home.
Knill would find trouble in the sixth issuing a walk and a blooper to right but retired the next two to strand the first run at third base.
The Gators would eventually strike in the eighth inning with a poke to left to score a runner all the way from second. The Blazers would respond in the bottom half with RBI doubles by both
Jasper Wilfrid (Mountain View, Ca./Mountain View) and
Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School).
For the Opponent
Joe Agrusti subbed in and had single that drove in two of the three runs for the NDMU
