FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College Women's lacrosse team came up short in an 11-10 loss against Arcadia, in Saturday afternoon's overtime thriller.

Julia Gregory (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) led the Blazers in goals, netting four on the day. 
 
Abby Burnette (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) and Rachel Harper (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) each scored two goals to light up the score board for Hood.
 
Abbey Bolingbroke (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) did it all as she finished with three caused turnovers, four draw controls, and scooped up four ground balls. Gregory and Katy Przybocki (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) also had four draw controls.
 
Emilie Vitalo (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) contributed on defense and caused two turnovers.
 
Alivia Hosterman (Danville, Pa./Danville) made seven saves.
 
How it Happened   
 
The Blazers opened the scoring for the match with a three-goal run in the opening eight minutes. Upon returning to the game from injury, Avery Stanley (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) struck first for Hood; Burnette and Gregory followed. The Knights answered by scoring a pair of goals within 30 seconds. Harper made her presence felt and made her way to the cage to answer for the Blazers. Arcadia quickly responded before ending the first quarter down 4-3.
 
The second quarter played out in a similar way to the first. Gregory and Burnette scored early to extend Hood's lead to 7-3. Gregory's goal halfway through the quarter secured her sixth hat-trick of the season and the twelfth of her career. Hood scooped up nearly every ground ball and controlled the game for the remainder of the second quarter. Arcadia was able to convert on one of their final possessions of the half, score a goal, and cut the Blazers' lead 7-4. Hood's defense stayed solid to carry the lead into the break.
 
The second half began with Hood's mistakes proving costly and the Knights going on to score three man-up goals to erase the lead and tie the contest at 7-7. In the closing minutes of the third quarter, Burnette made her way through Arcadia's defense to find Gregory to score and give Hood a narrow 8-7 lead, heading into the final frame.
 
Bolingbroke's impressive performance continued, as her draw control wins led to goals for Jaylen Brooks (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) and Harper. Hood's turnovers gave Arcadia foothold, and they took advantage to erase Hood's 10-7 lead and tie the game 10-10 with five minutes left on the clock. Each team proceeded to generate quality possessions and opportunities to score, but the goalies stepped up. Regulation was not enough to settle the contest and overtime approached, while the score remained 10-10.
 
Both defenses stepped up and forced turnovers in the final period. In the final thirty seconds, Arcadia was able to get a good look at the net and score the winning goal, with 24 seconds left. Hood fought hard and appeared dominant at times, but the Knights came from behind to win 11-10 in overtime.
 
Analysis   
 
In the second half, the Knights outshot the Blazers 15-11. 
 
Arcadia finished with six assists and Hood finished with two.

Mackenzie Clark and Jaylee Killgore scored three goals each. 
 
Jordyn Chan led all players with six draw controls.
 
Emily Griffith made 11 saves after 66 minutes in the cage.
