BALTIMORE, Md – Baseball after facing an seven-run deficit battle back to tie it up in late innings but were walked off against the No. 4 Blue Jays in the bottom of the ninth 11-10 on Tuesday afternoon.
In the Batter's Box
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) reached base five times and drove in two runs on his eventful day.
Rhett Robbins (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) collected three hits and drove in two runs while scoring twice.
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) had two hits and two RBIs.
On the Mound
AJ Haines (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) allowed seven hits on seven runs, two being earned in three innings.
From the Bullpen
Aaron Heller (Philadelphia, Pa./Jack Barrack Hebrew Acad.) got the long five innings allowing three runs on five hits.
How it Happened
Even with the tall task at hand, the Blue & Grey ambushed the Blue Jays right away with Haines reaching base via a knock just before
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) getting a free pass. A balk would move runners over before a 2-0 lead would occur via sacrifice and a base hit by Robbins.
The bottom half of the first would have the first two batters strike out and then a double would start an inning to boil over into a lost lead and a 3-2 deficit.
The lead would trickle into a flood and by inning four the Blazers would be down 10-2.
The Blazers load the bases in the fifth and Robbin's base hit up the middle scored another run.
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) clears house with a grand slam to turn a game that got out of hand into a ball game.
Two more runs in the seventh would knot the game, but in the end the Blue Jays would escape the spoiler and walk it off in the ninth.
Up Next
The Blazers will start a three-game series against York with game one set for 3:30 p.m..
