FREDERICK, Md. - The men's volleyball earned their fourth win of the season to surpass the most home wins in a season as the Blazers handled Penn State Schuylkill 3-0 on Wednesday night in Woodsboro Bank Arena.

Hood 25, PSU Schuylkill 19
The Nittany Lions took the early 6-2 lead thanks to the play of Jeremiah Miller and Reno Plesnarski of Penn State.

Blake Catts (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Cape Henlopen) got a turn at the line and receptions became difficult in the heart of the opposing side and brought the Blazers back within one.

With momentum on the Blazers side, a couple strong attacks at the net connected with hardwood and the Blazers now took an 8-7 lead.

Blazers on the edge of playing service tiptoed around the gray line and Schuylkill's serves were errant and finding out of bounds. However, Miller of the Nittany Lions would settle in and serve a few kills to put up a 13-13 tie after timeouts were exchanged by both teams.

With the hitting percentage rising for Hood, the connection between libero Jayson White and heavy hitters Casas and
Alex Barton (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga), the deflections and miscommunication for the opposition put the Blazers in the driver seat.

Hood 27, PSU Schuylkill 25

The second set started with only two kills for the Blazers in their first eight points, however the Nittany Lions didn't need any kills for their first eight points. Both teams found themselves controlling their own destiny.

The teams would exchange points back and forth in close manner and the longer one on side of the court, the more the blocking at the net and pieces move would send attacks off the mark.

The Nittany Lion libero David Imeogu covered ground with sliding, diving, and vocalizing to hold off the Blazer push.
Sean Seely (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage High School) matched for Hood in the backcourt keeping the reception in check and back in the hands of the scoring unit.

With Hood holding a three-point lead, the set was in threat of being the home team's. The Nittany Lions strung together a rally and pushed the set to extras. Extras was short lived with a service error by those in Blue & White and then a service ace by the Blue & Grey off a man in the back corner to end set two.

The final set saw Hood back to normal form, establishing the three-hit possessions in exchange for kills. The Nittany Lions dialed up the blocks at the net at the cost of having to receive attacks deep on their side.

What began as a back-and-forth match as usual, saw Hood pull away at the 10-11 mark and went on a 9-2 run. Barton was involved in the last four hits including a clean strike and a pair of service aces to end the night on good note.

Reno Plesnarski had 6 kills and a variety of four digs, three assists and a block.
Liam Ruggie had 15 assists on the night.
