ABURDEEN, Md. – The Blazers got the whole clubhouse up and moving with 25 different members entering the box score and with large lead early had to grind out an extra-inning win against Notre Dame of Maryland with a score of 11-10 at the Aburdeen Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
In the Batter's Box
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) goes 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving two in.

On the Mound

The first inning would be nothing short of a bag of trail mix, a variety pack of soda, almost like a charcuterie board if you will. With Stout being plunked and the first out of the inning taking place, it would give you a sense of a normal inning. Try a throwing error followed by an infield single to score the games first run. A balk changed the tempo and moved two runners in scoring position. Another groundball, another boot with two more baserunners crossing the plate extends the Hood lead. Mix in a couple more fielder errors and RBI base hits from
Jasper Wilfrid (Mountain View, Ca./Mountain View) and
James Gruenfelder (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Earl L. Vandermulen) and you have an 8-0 game heading into the bottom half of the first.
Schaber took the start and although issuing a couple of walks, the Blazers traded some runs for outs and the big first inning minimized to just a pair of runs scoring. The Gators would reach aboard, but Schaber and the defense would take care of business especially the outfield taking care of the contact from the air.
Stout would one-hop a double over the fence in the fifth and the next two hitters would take a pitch off the flesh to load the bases.
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) and
Harrison Ludington (Woodbridge, Va/Forest Park High School) would continue the bleeding by taking free passes to first and earning a run scored along the way.
Later the Gators would capitalize on Blazer mistakes and score two in the eighth inning via an infield error and a wild pitch. Some well-timed hitting and another wild pitch would climb Notre Dame back to shore and into a tied ballgame in the ninth.
Tyndall would serve a ball to left and swipe second for the DIY double to lead off the tenth inning. Wilfrid would move Tyndall over to third and the final 90 feet would be earned via a
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) sacrifice fly to earn the go ahead.
Even after a leadoff walk, Knill forced the 6-4-3 double play and retired the last batter to earn the save and close a well-represented Division III nonconference matchup.
