How it Happened
- Albright got the ball rolling first as the Lion's Kayte Moist opened the match's scoring three and a half minutes in. The Blazers then went on to strike back with three goals of their own. Salem netted Hood's first on an eight meter. In the eight minute of the quarter the Blazers' Katy Przybocki (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and Abby Burnette (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom) brought Hood up two on the Lions. Moist then took another strike past Glawe to cut the Blazer lead to a point but Salem would be there to keep it at two. Then with just under four minutes to go in the period Albright netted two more goals to tie things up at four.
- The Lions looked to regain the lead in the second as the team went on a three-goal run to go up 7-4 on Hood. But with just under two minutes left in the period Rachel Harper (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) received a pass from Gregory to cut the Lion lead to 2 before halftime. As both teams returned to their respective huddles and viewed Hood College's track and field team's senior day the scoreboard read 7-5 in favor of Albright.
- Starting out the second half Kayte Moist brought Albright back up three goals five minutes in. Both teams would trade goals this quarter as Burnette got back on the board scoring her second of the day. Just after Burnette's goal Albrights own Riley Basht netted another to make it 9-6. Then before the conclusion of the third quarter Gregory caused a turnover on the Blazer offensive side of the field, picked up the loose ball, got fouled while attacking the cage and cashed out on a free position shot to make it 9-7 heading into the fourth.
- The fourth and final quarter of play would prove itself to be all Hood. Starting right where the third quarter left off Gregory netted three back-to-back-to-back goals to begin the quarter with two off of eight-meters and one off a catch from Burnette. Hood now retaining the lead once again the Blazers did not let their foot off the gas. With eight and a half minutes remaining Brooks joined in on the action netting her first goal of the day. Immediately following Brooks' goal Salem netted two on two back-to-back offensive possessions. Then with just under three minutes left Gregory found the back of the net for the fifth time this season after she won the draw control and cut through the Lions' defense. Next to cap things off Bolingbroke and Avery Stanely netted one more each to give the Blazers the lead 16-9. The Lions now shocked at the quarter they just witnessed they had to retaliate; but with little time left Moist's goal would not be enough to bring Albright back in the game. As the final buzzer sounded Hood was victorious with a score of 16-10.
