FREDERICK, Md. – The squad overcomes a three run deficit with some timely hitting to take down the Lions of Albright College 7-5 on Friday afternoon.
In the Batter's Box
Jack Patterson (Boyds, Md./Northwest) had a pair of hits, scored and drove in a run.
Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) scored twice and collected two RBIs.
Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) drew three walks on the day.
On the Mound
Skylar Albright (Hendersonville, N.C./Hendersonville) worked six innings allowing four runs.
From the Bullpen
Mason Potter (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) allowed two hits in his three innings of work.
How it Happened
Albright loaded the bases to begin the game thanks to a pair of infield hits and an error to put traffic on for Hood's pitcher
Skylar Albright (Hendersonville, N.C./Hendersonville).
Trading outs for runs, two outs scored two Lions before
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) shot down to second caught the trailing runner trying to take second base ended the inning.
The following Albright bat at the plate, Skylar produced three groundouts to short for a clean 1-2-3.
After Tyndall reached via fielder's choice, Gannon lofted a single to left field that was hard to handle for the outfielder which resulted in Tyndall wheeling to home and scoring the Blazers first run.
The Lions would load the bases again the third and again score two more. Even though Skylar got a pop up to shortstop and a diving catch by Patterson, a single and a sacrifice fly score more.
Hood brings some energy in the fourth when Tyndall gets plunked to start the inning and Brennan and Haines draw walks with two outs. The Blue & Grey got a little help from Albright's pitcher with a balk trying to throw to third to score their second run. That would be the only run scored in the inning.
Another bases loaded scenario occurred in the fifth, this time a base it through the left side by Tyndall cashes in two base runners to only trail by one.
Keegan Brennan (Lake Wynonah, Pa./Nativity BVM) served a ball to the left side of the infield but the throw one-hopped the first baseman and scored the tying run Brown from third.
The sixth broke the tie after Broughton advanced on a fielder's choice and was later sent home via single from Patterson and the throw from the outfield was left short.
AJ Haines (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) added the insurance run with a towering homer to left field in the seventh.
