How it Happened
- The Mustangs opened the game's scoring with a five-goal run in the first eight minutes of play. Then just under a minute after Stevenson's run Stanley netted her first goal of an eight meter. Before the first quarter came to a close the Mustangs managed to tack on a couple more goals to make it 7-1 heading into the second period.
- In the second quarter Stevenson attempted to start out similar to the first as the team knocked back three shots in the first eight minutes. As both teams battled it would be none other than Stanely to score the next goal for Hood with a minute and a half left before halftime. The Mustang's disheartened by Stanley's scoring responded with a last second shot clock beating goal to round out the first half 11-2.
- Starting out the third quarter Burnette found herself on the board after taking a quick dodge and score. As the Blazers had hopes of chipping away at the Mustangs' lead, Stevenson added more fuel to the fire scoring another four points making it a running clock ball game. With time running out Hood had to move quickly and none other than Stanley found the back of the net for a third time after receiving a pass from Katy Przybocki (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) to bring Hood within 11. As both teams headed to their respective huddles to prepare for the fourth quarter the Mustangs led 15-4.
- In the fourth and final quarter of play Stevenson added on to their already major lead with a five-goal run. Now up 20-4 the Mustangs sat pretty with an advantage; however, it would be Salem to send stern message and score for Hood. Unfortunately for the Blazers time was the enemy and as the final buzzer sounded Stevenson led 20-5.
