FREDERICK, Md. – The men's soccer team hosted cross MAC conference foe DeSales and held up until the Bulldogs broke the draw with five minutes to go as the Blazers fell 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Inside the Box Score
Timmy Hill (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) earns his first collegiate goal in the second half.
Kyle Gislon (Rockville, Md./Rockville) put two shots up.
Adam Labows (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) made six saves on the afternoon.
How it Happened
DeSales had showed mild offensive play until a long ball connected downfield and opened up an opportunity. With a scamper across the field just outside the box started a chain reaction from another pass to the side and then a lofted pass in front of goal that was headed in and broke the draw.
The second half goal started with a big boot by Labows over the majority of personnel and rolled past everyone but the keeper. Hill followed the ball and as the goalie misjudged the roll, his touch trickled into goal for the equalizer.
The Bulldogs pressured the Blazers outshooting them and leading in corners 4-1 in the second half without a score but with less than five minutes the damn broke. Labows punched the ball out of harms way, but the pin-balling of the ball in the attacking zone led to an attacker getting a running start behind an official and his frozen rope deflected off the keeper and in.
