HARRISONBURG, Va. – Baseball was ambushed in the early innings to drop their third game of the season on the road 13-4 against Bridgewater at Eagle Field on Wednesday night.
On the Mound
Tim Rio (Manassas, Va./Unity Reed) took the loss and allowed five runs in two innings of work
.
In the Batter's Box
Sean Seely (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) collected two hits, his first multi-hit game of his career.
AJ Haines (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) sported an extra-base hit.
Kamari Chisolm (Gainesville, Va./Bishop O'Connell) collects his first career hit.
From the Bullpen
Aaron Heller (Philadelphia, Pa./Jack Barrack Hebrew Acad.) finished the final two innings allowing one run off of one hit.
How it Happened
AJ Haines (Arlington, Va./Bishop O'Connell) in the top of the first made it to third by drawing a walk and was moved over via groundout before taking third on a passed ball.
Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) sliced a single up the middle to score Haines and charge to a 1-0.
The bottom half of the first saw two Eagles' baserunners and they were moved over via wild pitch before station-to-station plays earned them the lead 2-1. More than a flesh wound would follow as a homer for the Eagles would clear the bases and extend their lead 4-1. Six runs in the next two innings put a wall in front of the Blazers.
A middle inning pulse scored a couple runs, Seely and Chisolm on base at the corners meant speed in queue and a double steal later added a run for Hood. Haines' double would cash in Chisolm, but Bridgewater was in the driver's seat too early.
For the Opponent
Ashton Smith hit two homers.
Nick Stavros collected three hits and three RBIs.
