How it Happened – Hood 10, St. Mary's (MD) 2

St. Mary's scratched across two unearned runs in the first inning, but Hood immediately countered. Amrit Brown (Asheville, N.C./Asheville) opened the bottom half with a single before coming around to score on Ty Broughton (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington)'s RBI groundout, trimming the deficit to 2–1.

From there, pitchers Albright and Sawyers kept the Seahawks quiet with four scoreless innings before Hood completely flipped the game in the fifth inning.

The Blazers loaded the bases for free with three walks and added two more to take the lead. After leading 6-2 at one point, Jonathan Tyndall (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) worked a walk to lead an innings and stole second to start the sixth. After some more free passes, Quade Gannon (Felton, Del./Lake Forest) singles to right field to lock up the game at 10-2.

After the Seahawks scored first in the top of the opening inning, Hood responded again. Kamari Chisolm (Gainesville, Va./Bishop O'Connell) doubled, stole third, and scored on an Haines RBI single to tie the game. A wild pitch allowed Haines to come home moments later, giving Hood a 2–1 lead after one.

St. Mary's mounted a four-run third inning to take a 5–2 advantage, but Hood again responded.

In the bottom half, Blaine Smith (Hume, Va./Fauquier) drove in two with a clutch single up the middle, trimming the deficit to 5–4.

A seven-run outburst in the fourth would be the runaway cart on the competition. Rhett Robbins (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) delivered the biggest swing of the day with a bases-clearing triple to left-center that brought home three and put Hood ahead 8–6. Broughton, Conner Decker (York, Pa./Red Lion) and Tyndall tacked runs giving Hood an 11–6 cushion.
