FREDERICK, Md. – A pair of hat tricks from
Deegan Workman (Chattanooga, Tenn./Soddy Daisy) and
JT Harich (Point of Rocks, MD./Brunswick) helped power the Hood College men's lacrosse team past Goucher College 11-7 for their first win of the season.

Harich and Workman both finished with three goals, while Harich added two assists.
Danny McElroy (Frederick, Md./Saint James) potted two goals.
Lucas Strand (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) picked up 13 ground balls.
Calvin Morris (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) made four saves before being replaced by
Trent Leuba (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) who saved five shots and picked up the win.
How it Happened
Both teams started out slow as they tried to solve each other's goalies, and just under five minutes in, Workman broke the ice after a feed from
Isiac Nafziger (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) to give the Blazers a 1-0 advantage. That lead would not last long though, as the Gophers managed to score three times in three minutes to put Hood on their heels.
The Blazers earned a man-up opportunity shortly after Goucher's third goal, and they would quickly capitalize on it to make it a one-goal game before the first quarter expired.
Less than a minute into the second quarter, Workman scored his second of the day to tie things up, and Hood added two more to take a 5-3 lead.
With just over 10 minutes to play in the half, the Gophers would score to cut the Blazers' lead to just one, but the scoring dried up after that, as neither team would find the back of the net before heading into the locker room for the halftime break.
After another dry spell for offense coming out into the third quarter, a goal from
Eric Reese (Erie, Pa./McDowell) seemed to be the breaking point for the Goucher defense, with Hood scoring the next three goals afterwards to take a 9-4 lead.
Goucher would not go down easily though, making things competitive with two goals before the end of the quarter to cut the Blazers' lead to 9-6.
Hood did not take long to take the momentum back in the fourth quarter, with McElroy scoring just 15 seconds in. Although the Gophers would again make it a three-goal game with under 10 minutes to play, the Blazers restored the four-goal advantage
shortly after with a goal from
Nick Horton (Aston, Pa/Sun Valley) before killing the rest of the clock and finishing the game with an 11-7 win.
For the Opponent
Milan Temple and Gianni Karem both scored twice.
Cole Smith caused four turnovers.
Josh Steinmiller made 12 saves in the loss.
Analysis
Hood outshout Goucher 41-33.
The Gophers were 19-24 in their clear attempts, while the Blazers went 18-24.
Hood had a 15-6 advantage in faceoffs.
