How it Happened
Neither team scored on their first possession, but the Blazers were not held off the scoreboard much longer, scoring twice in less than a minute to take an early advantage.
Hood had a chance to score on their next three possessions, but a shot from Regan Tesche was handled by goalie Jackson Blow, and a quick Bearcats clear caught the Blazers offside. St. Vincent did not waste its first man-up opportunity, scoring in the final ten seconds of their advantage to make it a 2-1 game.
After a bit of a lull in scoring, Hood got a man-up opportunity of their own after a Bearcat was called for slashing, and despite having a minute of advantage, needing just 25 seconds for Tesche to score and restore the two-goal lead. Although St. Vincent woulde again cut the lead to just one, a goal from Reese with just over three minutes remaining kept the Blazers ahead 4-2 after the first quarter.
Starting off the second quarter, the Bearcats had about 27 seconds of a power play opportunity after a late penalty against Hood, and again they would capitalize on their opportunity to make it a one-goal affair. Just over 10 minutes later, St. Vincent would score again to finally tie things up 4-4, but an Odenheimer goal with less than a minute to play sent the Blazers into the locker room with a 5-4 lead.
The third quarter was all Hood, as Nino Rizzolino scored his second of the season just a few minutes in, and two goals in the final two minutes gave the Blazers an 8-4 advantage with one quarter to play.
Quarter four did not start off well for Hood, with the Bearcats hitting the back of the net twice to trim the Blazers' lead down to two, but after the second goal against,
Workman and Harich worked quickly, both scoring in less than 30 seconds to push their lead back up to four at 10-6.
Things got dicey for Hood after that, as St. Vincent managed to find the back of the net three times in three minutes to cut the Blazers' lead down to just one.
Fortunately, Workman and the rest of the team regained their composures to outscore the Bearcats 3-1 in the final five minutes to hold on for a 13-10 win and Hood's third in a row.
