OWINGS MILLS, Md.--Six different players scored for the Villa
Julie field hockey team (4-7, 2-2 CAC) as the Mustangs defeated
Hood College (3-5, 0-2 CAC), 6-0, Wednesday afternoon in a Capital
Athletic Conference contest.
Villa Julie mounted a 4-0 lead at halftime as Jennifer Sauers,
Krissy Leventis, Raechel Manly and Margaret Wolfe all scored for
the Mustangs. Hood was denied a shot on goal in the first 35
minutes.
In the second half, sophomore Jen Graham and senior Christa
Lundskow each got off a shot attempt but they were both saved by
Mustang goalie Kara Zimmerman. Cat Connelly converted a penalty
stroke and Sarah Bauer assisted Cara Albanese in the second half
for the final margin.
Junior Ashley Saylor turned away a season-high 16 shots in defeat
as the Blazers were outshot 37-2 on the day.
Hood returns to action Saturday at Wesley College in a CAC tilt at
1 p.m.
