FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College men's lacrosse team (0-8, 0-5
CAC) dropped an 18-4 decision to the visiting Marymount University
Saints (4-2, 1-2 CAC) Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference
action at Thomas Athletic Field.
Jason Anderson netted a pair of goals and Sofiane Lazar and
Blake Rust recorded single tallies for the Blazers. Jesse Jones and
Daniel Rocker were credited with assists in the losing effort.
Marymount jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the second
quarter until Rust found the back of the net off an assist from
Rocker. The Saints maintained that 7-1 lead at the break.
Marymount came out strong again at the start of the second half
netting the first four goals, but Hood used back-to-back goals
from Anderson and Lazar in a span of 36 seconds to cut the deficit
to 11-3 after three periods.
Anderson's second tally of the afternoon came in the first 1:15
of the fourth quarter, but the Saints netted the game's final seven
scores to clinch the victory.
Sam Hofmann played 49:18 between the pipes and racked up 18
saves while Nicholas O'Brien played the final 10:42 and made two
stops.
Kevin Conklin had a hand in nine of Marymount's 18 goals,
scoring seven and assisting on two others.
The Blazers' next contest is set for Tuesday against Catholic
University at 4 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
