Box Score YORK, Pa.--First-year goalkeeper Ashley Stennett stopped a
career-high 26 shots for the Hood College field hockey team (0-6,
0-3 CAC) in a 6-0 Capital Athletic Conference setback to the York
College (Pa.) Spartans (5-3, 2-1 CAC) Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans were relentless, peppering Stennett with 45
attempts, including 35 on cage. Hood's rookie netminder, who earned
her second career start in the cage, put forth a valiant effort in
attempting to withstand YCP's constant pressure. Stennett racked up
the highest single-game saves total for a Blazer keeper this
season; she entered today's game having logged just 60:40 in the
cage and tallied five saves in her previous three appearances in
the blue-and-grey.
The Blazer front line, however, was unable to get a shot off in
the contest. Sophomore Michelle Buhrman and first-year Ashley Bryant combined for three defensive saves for Hood.
The Blazers look to right the ship Saturday against
nonconference foe St. Vincent College at 4:30 p.m. at Thomas
Athletic Field.
