Box Score CHESTER, Pa.--The Hood College field hockey team (2-10, 0-5 Commonwealth) lost to the Widener University Pride (4-9, 2-3 Commonwealth) by a margin of 8-0 Saturday afternoon in a Commonwealth Conference matchup.
The Pride registered three goals in the first half and five more in the second for their second Commonwealth win of the season. Hood was unable to register a shot in the first half but had four attempts in the second, two of which were stopped by reserve keeper Jessica Sochocky. Michelle Buhrman took two shots, in addition to making her team-high ninth defensive save of the fall, while Morgan Cole and Miriah Stone had one shot apiece. Hood also had eight penalty corner opportunities, all in the second half, but the Blazers were unable to convert them into scores.
Ying Van Schaik made the start in the cage and turned aside eight shots in 52:05, while Liz Decembrino patrolled the cage for the final 17:55 and made six saves.
Hood returns to Thomas Athletic Field Tuesday to host Messiah College in another Commonwealth Conference matchup at 4:30 p.m.
