FREDERICK, Md.--The Hood College field hockey team (2-14, 0-8 Commonwealth) fell to the visiting Alvernia University Crusaders (9-9, 3-5 Commonwealth) by a margin of 9-0 Wednesday afternoon in the regular season Commonwealth Conference finale for both teams at Thomas Athletic Field.

Hood's goalkeeping tandem of Liz Decembrino (3) and Ying Van Schaik (10) combined for 13 saves while Rachel Marlow also blocked a Crusader attempt for her fourth defensive save of the season.

Alvernia scored six goals in the first half and three more in the second off the sticks of seven different players. Miranda Peto and Natalie Messaros each scored twice and Erin Solley picked up three assists for the victors.

The Blazers conclude the 2012 season at Wilson College Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.
