Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.--Senior Miriah Stone of the Hood College field hockey team (1-2) scored her first goal of the season and fifth of her Blazer career in a 4-1 nonconference setback to the Cedar Crest College Falcons (3-0) Saturday afternoon.
Stone got the Blazers on the board in the eighth minute when she finished a pass from Michelle Buhrman on Hood's first penalty corner opportunity of the game. The Falcons would even things up five minutes later on an unassisted score by Jessica Sanberg and the two teams would head into intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
The Falcons struck quickly out of the halftime break. Cedar Crest got the go-ahead goal off the stick of Emily Rodenberger 1:40 into the second half. A little more than five minutes later, Lauren Salge and Rebecca Lowe scored back-to-back goals within a span of 1:35 to put the Falcons up 4-1. Hood outshot Cedar Crest by a margin of 11-4 in the second stanza but was unable to find the back of the cage as Lindsay Harrison made 10 of her 15 saves in the final 35-minute session.
Liz Decembrino made seven saves for the Blazers, who also held a 14-9 advantage on penalty corners.
Hood returns to Thomas Athletic Field for a pair of nonconference home games next week. The Blazers host Bridgewater College Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Bryn Mawr College Saturday at 4 p.m.
