Field Hockey Has Winning Streak Snapped by Neumann

Box Score

FREDERICK, Md - Four first half goals snapped Hood's two game winning streak as the Neumann Universtiy Knights defeated the Blazers 5-0 this afternoon at Thomas Athletic Field.

Jordan Hopkins started the scoring six minutes into the game off of a pass from Lindsey Spatola, that Hopkins redirected into the net. Just over six minutes later, there was a loose ball scrum in front of Hood's cage and Carolynn Bacho found the ball and poked it into the goal.

At 19:18, Megan Shumate put the game out of reach, when Kenya Woods got around the keeper and found Shumate in front of the open cage.

The Blazers' best chance came a couple of minutes before halftime, when Alexis Briscoe broke away and sent a pass across the arc but it could not connect with a teammate.

Keeper Ying Van Schaik faced 20 shots and made nine saves in the effort. Emily Richardson was credited with a defensive save.

Hood will look to bounce back on September 18, against Goucher College at Thomas Athletic Field.
