Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - A seven-goal run by Marymount (Va.) put the game out of reach as Hood College fell 11-2 on the road in non-conference action.
The Saints jumped out to an early lead before the Blazers' leading assist-man and goal scorer hooked up for Hood's first goal. Chris Wilbur (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) picked up his team-high fourth assist of the year when freshman Brett Humphreys (Newark, Del. / Sanford) found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 4-1 with 4:43 to go in the first quarter. It was Humphreys' team-leading seventh score of the year.
Matt Justice stretched the Marymount lead back to four goals before the end of the first and started the game-changing run. The Saints led 8-1 at the half and added three more goals before the Blazers scored again.
Hood stopped the run when Tai Foster (Honolulu, Hawaii / Punahou) scored with 5:05 left in the game.
Randolph Clark (Chesapeake Beach, Md. / Northern) led the Blazers with five ground balls, and he and Dan Jacobs (Hillsborough, N.J. / Hillsborough) each caused a pair of turnovers. John Martin (New Market, Md. / Oakdale) went the distance in goal, stopping seven shots.
Justice (2g, 2a) and Chad Niegarth (3g, 1a) each had four points for Marymount. Derek DiGiovanni made five saves in the opening 46 minutes, while Jeremy Larkin stopped six shots in the final 14 minutes.
Marymount held a 29-27 edge in shots and 27-21 in ground balls. Both teams committed 18 turnovers.
Hood returns to Thomas Athletic Field for its 2014 home opener against Salve Regina on March 11 at 3:30 p.m.
