FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College field hockey team dropped its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opener to Widener 4-0.

Hailey Poisal (Westminster, Md./ Westminster) started in goal for the Blazers and turned away 11 shots. Hood's best scoring chance on the day came near the end of the first half, but Shelby Amspacher (Havertown, Pa./ Archbishop Carroll) was turned away by Mikayla Ninos.

Kelly Rodgers led the way for the Pride, scoring two goals. Eliza Newlin and Kaelei Renzi each added a goal. Dana Adamson had two assists and Sarah Quintos added another.

Hood looks to find the win column September 27 as they play host to Bethany (W.Va.) for Senior Day. The game is slated to start at 12 p.m. at Thomas Athletic Field.
