Fourth quarter unfriendly at Albright

READING, Pa. - The Hood College women's basketball team went cold in the fourth period to drop its Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth road matchup at Albright College 60-47.

Marlise Newson (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) recorded a team-high 14 points, while pulling down four rebounds and dishing out four assists.
Lele Wright (Wilmington, Del./Howard) had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Kayla Watkins-Harvey (Largo, Md./Largo) pulled down 10 rebounds, while adding six points.
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) ended the afternoon with eight points and nine rebounds.

How it Happened

Albright's Gabby Boggs capped of a 7-1 run to open the first two minutes of the game where the Lions converted on 3-of-4 shots.
Newson scored four of the Blazers' six points as Hood tied the game up at 7-7 with just over six minutes in the first period.
The score was still tied after Newson made a jumper to make it 11-11 with 2:49 left in the first.
The Lions led 16-11 heading into a second quarter where both teams struggled to get a rhythm, combining for 16 points in the period. Hood entered the halftime break down 24-19.
A 10-3 run over five minutes of the third period resulted in Hood's first lead of the afternoon, 33-31 on a bucket by Watkins-Harvey with 3:26 left.
Albright's Crisanta Apistar converted two free throws with two seconds on the clock to give the Lions a 37-35 lead through three periods of play.
The Lions pushed their lead out to double digits in the fourth quarter, thanks to a 13-4 run led by Boggs that had fast break lay-ups for a 59-45 lead with under a minute remaining.
