FREDRICK, Md. - The Hood College men's lacrosse team halted the late come-back by SUNY Delhi to earn a 9-7 victory over the Broncos in the 2022 season opener.

How It Happened
- The game started off low scoring, entering the second quarter with a score of 3-2 in favor of the Blazers. The Broncos Brandon McGrath scored with 7:55 remaining in the quarter to take the 2-1 lead. Hood scored back-to-back goals from Rhoads and Muldoon to take the lead going into the second.
- In a strong defensive second, the Blazers scored with 5:08 remaining until halftime as Wiley netted an unassisted goal to take the 4-2 lead over the Broncos.
- SUNY Delhi tallied the next two goals to tie the game with tallies by Jackson Murphy and Greg Junge to even the score 4-4 going into the second half.
- The defense held the Broncos scoreless in the third quarter and the Blazers took advantage by scoring three goals in the third quarter. Hand, Gallagher and Gilsdorf each scored for Hood. The Gilsdorf goal at 9:50 ended the third quarter to take the 7-4 lead.
- Scott continued the scoring run for the Blazers as he found the back of the net 14:24 into the last quarter to extend the lead 8-4 in favor of Hood.
- SUNY Delhi's McGarth added his second goal on an extra man opportunity to cut the lead to 8-5 with 10:35 remaining in the game.
- Betcher rounded out the scoring for the Blazer's when he netted a man-up goal off an assist by Muldoon at 5:29 to push the lead to 9-5.
- The Broncos scored the final two goals of the game as Benjamin Moscatiello and Jack McClurg scored to lessen the score to 9-7 with 1:49 left in the game.
