FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College men's lacrosse first-year
Rio Muldoon tallied four points to set a new first-year points record in the 25-6 loss to Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth opponent the No. 6 York College Spartans on Wednesday.

How It Happened
- Muldoon got the scoring started early off an assist from Jay Lanigan with 12:58 on the clock to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead over York.
- York answered the Muldoon strike with a 14-0 run to take the 14-1 lead with 2:52 left in the second quarter. The Spartan run was led by Will Harnick's five goals and Ames Clark's hat trick. Michael Russo, Vinny Facciponti, Ben Mayers, Jack Grayson, Dylan Wolf, Jarrod Marenger all added one goal during the run.
- Gilsdorf ended the scoring drought with an unassisted tally with 33 second remaining before halftime to bring the score 14-2 in favor of York.
- The Spartans scored three unanswered while holding the Blazers scoreless in the third quarter. JD Townsend, Mayer and Grayson all netted goals in the 3-0 run to extend the lead to 17-2 going into the final quarter.
- Townsend and Russo scored early for York to push the led to 19-2 with 9:48 remaining in the game.
- Hood scored two goals in a row with the first being a Gallagher strike off a Muldoon pass then a Muldoon unassisted score to lessen the lead to 19-4 with 8:46 left on the clock.
- Marenger and Spencer answered with two York goals to take the 21-4 lead with 7:23 remaining.
- Wiley started a two-goal run as he scored on a man-up opportunity off a pass from Muldoon. Sievert scored the final Blazer goal off a Kevin Clohosey pass to make the score 21-6 with 5:06 on the clock.
- York secured the 26-5 win over Hood ending the game with a four-goal run with two tallies from Nick Lilly and one from Ethan Fought and Justin Hartz each.
For the Opponent
- Will Harnick led the Spartan attack with eight points on five goals and three assists.
- Ames Clark added three goals and one assist for four points.
- Five York players scored twice and seven players all netted once.
- Vinny Facciponti and Hugo Spencer both recorded seven ground balls. Facciponti went 10-19 in the faceoff circle.
- Matty Mancuso and Ethan Greene both caused a team-high three turnovers for the defense.
- Jack Michael played for 30 minutes and recorded six saves. Jack Keller and Ian Callinan both played for 15 minutes and recorded two saves each.

- Hood successfully cleared the ball 21-out-28 times while York went 26-33 in clears.

Notes
- Muldoon's four points sits him at 43 this season so far which sets a new first-year points record that was held by Grayson Zubradt's 40 points in 2016.

The Blazers fall to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the MAC Commonwealth. Hood will take a break from MAC Commonwealth opponents this weekend as they travel to Delaware Valley University for a 1 p.m. matchup against the Aggies that was rescheduled from March 13.
