TOWSON, Md. - Behind error-free hitting by
MacKenzi Wright (Hagerstown, MD/South Hagerstown) and
Carrington Ray (Washington, DC/St. Andrew's Episcopal), the Hood College women's volleyball team picked up a three-set sweep at Goucher.

- The Blazers won 25-15, 25-22, 25-15.
Inside the Box Score
- Wright had 12 kills in 23 attempts, hitting .522 in the match. The junior was the only player from either team with double-digit kills.
- Ray added five kills in only 11 attacks and ended the evening hitting .455.
- Ann Ofoegbu (Falling Waters, WV/Spring Mills) was second to Wright with eight kills and had only two errors in 15 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage. The newcomer led the team with two blocks.
- Hood's hitters benefited from the setting of Jackie Malitzki (Allentown, PA/Parkland), who dished out 30 assists.

- Ofoegbu erased a 7-6 deficit herself with four straight kills to help the Blazers take command of the set.
- The quartet of kills sparked a 12-2 run that resulted in an 18-9 lead.
- An ace by Riley Kocell pulled the Gophers within 18-13 before Hood pulled away with a 7-2 run for a 1-0 lead in the match.
Hood 25, Goucher 22
- Olivia DeBlasio recorded a kill to tie the second set at 8-8 before an 7-1 run by Hood, featuring a pair of kills by Wright, resulting in a 15-9 lead for the Blazers.
- The Gophers scored nine of the next 12 points to tie the match at 18-18 on an Elizabeth Bobo service ace.
- Hood scored the next three points to take the lead for good but led just 23-22 before kills by Wright and Shane Simms (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) closed the door on the second set.
Hood 25, Goucher 15
- Goucher struggled to begin the third set and Hood took advantage of six quick errors to jump ahead 13-5.
- The Blazer lead was never less than seven the rest of the way as Hood completed the three-set sweep.
Analysis
- The Blazers hit 9-1-23 in the final set to raise their percentage to .269, the second-best mark for the team this season.
- Goucher, meanwhile, hit .000 in the first set and managed just .080 for the match.
For the Opponent
- Bobo and Kailee Turner had six kills apiece for Goucher.
- Turner also had 14 assists, while Nicole Kovach had 14 digs.
Notes
- Hood pulled back above .500, improving to 4-3 on the year.
- Goucher fell to 1-7.
