SALEM, Va. - The Hood College field hockey team dropped the first game of its weekend trip to Virginia with a 3-0 loss at Roanoke.

- Midway through the first quarter, Tess Taloumis broke the scoreless deadlock with a goal off a feed by Lindsey Keyes.
- The Blazers had an opportunity to tie the game late in the first period but Kate Bentz's (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) shot was turned away by Madison Wingerter.
- After the Taloumis goal, the defenses held firm for nearly 38 minutes before Clare McCurley found Saige Bullock for Roanoke's second goal at 40:53.
- A goal by Grace Vernarelli in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach.
