Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College field hockey squad struggled to fend off a barrage of shots from Alvernia University, resulting in a 3-0 defeat in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.
How it Happened
Despite some promising moments, Hood found themselves struggling to break through Alvernia's solid defense. A penalty shot goal by Alvernia's Brianna Burkholder in the final seconds gave them a 1-0 lead to close the first period.
In the 2nd period, Alvernia's Hailey Miller found the net, extending the lead to 2-0. Kathryn Palmer, after a defensive save by Hood's
Natalie Badour (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock), added an insurance goal to finish the scoring for the night.
For the Opponent
Palmer added an assist on the night to go with her goal.
Lexi Boettcher had two saves in the shutout.
