HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Hood College women's basketball team was tested by Eastern Mennonite University, as the Royals out-shined the Blazers 68-55.

Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) led the Blazers with 34 points, eight rebounds, and one assist.
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) and
Na'Vaye Quarles (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) had two assists each.
Sami Betley (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) and
Nyla Laniyonu (Lawrenceville, Ga./Arundel (Md.)) recorded one block shot each.
How it Happened
The Blazers kept up with the Royals as both teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter tying the game's score four times with six lead changes. Lee took part in two of the four ties to keep Hood in the game.
In the second quarter the Royals started to pull out a lead until the final minutes where a jumper by Lee and another by Quarles cut Eastern Mennonite's margin to five points.
Proceeding halftime, Lee gave the Blazers the first basket off an assist by Manning. The end of the third quarter nearly replicated the second where Hood would end up just five points behind Eastern Mennonite. In the last minutes of the third Lee brought the Blazers within three points off of a steal leading to a good layup. The Royals responded with two free throws extending their lead to five.
Entering the fourth the Royals went on a run that made it difficult for the Blazers to recover in time before the final buzzer. Closing out the game it was Eastern Mennonite's slew of fast break points that gave the Royals the win over the Blazers 68-55.
For the Opponent
Kayla Surles totaled 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Caris Lucas also recorded 18 points.
Laila Glymph had nine rebounds on the day.
Analysis
Eastern Mennonite outrebounded Hood 44-34
The Blazers shot 35.4 percent from the field compared to the Royals' 34.4 percent.
Eastern Mennonite only had 16 turnovers in the game, while Hood tallied 21.
Notes
"I feel like we are getting closer to where we want to be. We really competed today but EMU made us pay for every mistake. We will figure this thing out." said Coach Polite after the game.
