FREDERICK, Md. - The Hood College women's basketball team could not outpace the offensive outburst of the Bridgewater College Eagles, as the Blazers fell 59-35.
Inside the Box Score
Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) led the Blazers with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) came away with four steals.
How it Happened
After the Eagles took an early 4-0 lead to start the game, a three-pointer from
Na'Vaye Quarles (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) got the Blazers within one point, but that would be the closest they would get for the rest of the quarter, as Hood went into the second quarter in a 17-9 hole.
Bridgewater took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Blazers 21-5 over the next 10 minutes to widen Hood's deficit to 38-14.
The Blazers kept up with the Eagles in the third quarter, as a long-range shot from Quarles sparked the offense to go on a 7-2 run over a four-minute period, but after thirty minutes of play they still trailed 48-24.
As Bridgewater looked to run up the score, Hood ended the game on a 5-0 run, but they could not overcome the first half deficit before the final buzzer sounded.
For the Opponent
Riley Corcoran scored a team-high 14 points, shooting 7-11 from the field.
Jaden Alsberry finished the night with three blocks, eight points, and seven rebounds.
Analysis
Bridgewater shot 46 percent from the floor, compared to just 24 percent for Hood.
The Eagles outrebounded the Blazers 35-25.
Notes
"We played a good team today, and good teams take advantage of your mistakes... I'm excited to get back to practice next week," said Coach Polite after the game.
