LANCASTER, Pa. - A double-double from
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) was not enough to outpace the Lancaster Bible College Chargers, as the Blazers fell 55-50 in non-conference action.
Inside the Box Score
Manning recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds to get the double-double, adding six assists on the night and shooting a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) led the Blazers with 16 points, shooting 7-18 from the field.
Nyla Laniyonu (Lawrenceville, Ga./Arundel (Md.)) came just shy of the team's second double-double, scoring 10 points and coming down with nine rebounds.
How it Happened
Hood started out in a 9-5 hole just over three minutes into the first quarter, but six points from Manning would help the Blazers go on a 10-2 run to take the lead, ending the quarter ahead 14-13.
Manning would show up again in the second quarter, tying the game once and then taking the lead late after making a pair of free throws, but the Chargers would end the half with a 27-26 lead.
Lancaster Bible began the second half on a 10-2 run to give themselves an eight-point advantage just over two minutes into the first half. Hood stayed with them though, with a layup from Laniyonu cutting the Chargers' lead to just two with 1:34 to play, but a shot from Alaysha Iwais with a minute to go gave Lancaster Bible a four-point advantage heading into the fourth.
Lee and Demiah Austin (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) would each score in 21 seconds to tie the game in the opening minute of the quarter, with neither team finding a solid foothold until a 6-0 run from the Chargers gave them a substantial lead with just over a minute to play.
Two free throws and a layup from Lee in the final minute were not enough to spark a comeback before the final buzzer sounded.
