FREDERICK, Md. The Hood College women's basketball team comes just short of a victory over McDaniel, as the Blazers fell 59-47 against the Green Terror.

Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) notched up 13 points and grabbed a solid eight rebounds.
Na'Vaye Quarles (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) also scored 13 points and had four assists.
Tam Stanford (Baltimore, Md./Our Lady of Mount Carmel) scored six points, grabbed two rebounds and two steals for the Blazers.
How it Happened
The game tipped off with Hood gaining possession. In the opening minute following a McDaniel foul,
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech) capitalized with two free throws, giving Hood an early lead. The first quarter ended with McDaniel leading Hood 13-8.
In the second, McDaniel maintained their lead with strong defense.
Demiah Austin (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) made the first bucket of the quarter. Lee had a couple of good layups for the Blazers. The first half concluded with McDaniel leading 31-18.
In the first 30 seconds of the third quarter the Blazers responded to a good shot by McDaniel with a good jumper by
Nikki Etchison (Ijamsville, MD/Oakdale), assisted by
Tiffany Manning (Randallstown, Md./Western Tech).
Quarles and Lee managed to get two good layups at the end of the quarter to bring Hood within nine.
Hood would be the first to score in the fourth after a made freethrow from Lee bringing the Blazers within just eight points.
In the final minutes of the quarter Raegan Lenz made two freethrows to solidify McDaniel's 59-47 win over the Blazers.
For the Opponent
Raegan Lenz led the Green Terror with 19 points, one assist and two steals.
Elaina Beckett had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Analysis
McDaniel shot 40.7 percent from the field compared to Hood's 35.3 percent.
The Green Terror edged out the Blazers' points in the paint 38-24.
Notes
When asked about the outcome of the game, Head Coach DéRonté Polite said, "We are really close. The bright side is everything that is not working is fixable. We will keep working and we will figure it out."
