YORK, Pa. – The Hood College women's basketball team battled but could not come up with a win, as the Blazers fell 68-55 against Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth foe Albright College.

Amari Faust (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) led the Blazers in scoring with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
Chanelle Lee (Brunswick, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep) had nine points, seven rebounds and five steals on the day.
Na'Vaye Quarles (Glen Burnie, Md./North County) picked up nine points, three assists, and three rebounds for Hood.
How it Happened
Hood started out the game scoring the first two buckets with a made two point jumper by Quarles followed up by a made layup by Lee. The Blazers held on to the lead for half of the quarter until York's Alyssa Hocker made a three pointer to give the Spartans the edge.
Going into the second quarter with a score of 11-17 in favor of York. The Spartans looked to keep their momentum until
Sami Betley (Bel Air, Md./Mercy) knocked down a jumpshot with 7:50 left in the half. Hood scored two more times with a made jumper by Faust and a good layup by Lee cutting York's lead down to just eight. Going into the second half the Spartans led 41-27.
Stepping into the second half the Blazers cut York's lead to ten after a made free throw by
Nikki Etchison (Ijamsville, MD/Oakdale) and a made three pointer by Quarles. Closing out the third quarter the Spartans held on to their lead making it 60-40 going into the fourth.
The Blazers started off hot in the final quarter of play. In the opening minutes Quarles knocked down a two point jumper immediately followed up by made layup. In the seventh minute Etchison hit a three pointer to cut the Spartans lead to just 12. In the final minute of the match Libby Kelly made a three point jumpshot changing to score differential to just 11. With just milliseconds in the game left Faust made a layup to bring Hood within 9. Hood battled but could not come up victorious, as the Blazers fell 70-61 at the final buzzer.
For the Opponent
Taylor Burda finished with 14 points, grabbing four rebounds, and dished out three assists.
Breana Grim ended the evening with 14 points, five assists and two rebounds.
Analysis
Hood shot 46.3 percent from the field, compared to 42.1 percent from York.
The Blazers' bench outscored the Spartans 25-11.
Notes
"York is a good basketball team that made us pay for our mistakes. However, this is the best we've shot the ball on the road and I'm hoping we can build off that." said head coach DéRonté Polite.
The Blazers drop to 3-13 overall, 2-4 in conference, with the Spartans improving to 12-5 overall, 5-1 in conference.
