FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College men's lacrosse team defeated non-conference foe Marymount University (Va.) in barn burner 12-11.

How it Happened
- An early goal by the Saints' Santino Rossitto put Marymount up early in the first quarter. Just a minute later the Blazers responded with a Wiley goal at 9:39 to even out the scoring at 1. The saints then managed to put together a three goal run to give them the lead heading into the second quarter.
- To start the second quarter the Blazers' reentered the scoring column with a Flok goal a minute and a half in. Then just three minutes later the Saints capitalized off a Blazers' penalty scoring on an extra man opportunity leading Hood by three 5-2. Hood returned the favor also scoring a man up goal by Wiley cutting down Marymount's lead. In the final minute of the first half the Blazers scored two back to back goals to even out the score at 5 points. Flok scored with 25 seconds left to go off and assist by Mcdermott and then Muldoon quickly scored the equalizer for the Blazers off a John Sanick (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) assist.
- The third quarter was a neck in neck battle as both teams would score and neither would pull away with a drastic lead. Wiley started out the quarter with a score giving Hood its first lead of the game. Two minutes later Marymount came back and scored two more goals taking the lead once again. Hood would not be counted out as McDermott leveled out the score at seven points off an assist by Flok. The Saints took back the lead for a second time as Santino Rossitto found the back of the net scoring a man up goal for Marymount. The teams traded blows back in forth as in the final three minutes of the third quarter. Muldoon brought Hood back to tie the ball game, then Marymount's Bryan Maguire picked up a garbage goal off a ground ball pick up in front of the crease and lastly Wiley tied up the scoring once again as the scoreborad read 9-9 to begin the fourth quarter.
- Early in the final quarter of play both teams' defense showed strength as both teams went scoreless for the first seven minutes. The drought was ended by Wiley as he scored his fifth goal of the day after a pass by McDermott. The Saints then responded to another Hood penalty where Kai Goo scored on an extra man opportunity evening out the score at 10 points. Hood would go up two goals on Marymount; however, as Tesche hit a strike from outside followed up by a face off win by Hitchens that led to a Muldoon goal putting Hood up 12-10. Marymount would attempt to make a comeback bid as Ciaran Connolly scored on the doorstep to bring the Saints within one point. The Blazers' pulled away as the final buzzer sounded and the scoreboard read 12-11 in favor of Hood.
