GRANTHAM, Pa - The Hood College men's lacrosse team battled with conference foe Messiah University dropping a close contest 14-12.

- Rio Muldoon (Prince Frederick, Md./DeMatha Catholic) had four goals and one assist for five points on the day. Â
- Owen McDermott (Wernersville, Pa./Conrad Weiser) scored two goals and assisted on another goal. Â
- Alex Dudziak (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) made 14 saves after 60 minutes in net. Â
- Evan Hayek (New Market, Md./Oakdale) caused four turnovers, scored a goal, dished out an assist and scooped up one ground ball for the Blazers. Â

How it HappenedÂ
- Messiah scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of play. Hood responded with three goals to go up 3-1 over the Falcons. Connor Flok (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and Aiden Gilsdorf scored the first two goals for the Blazers and then Muldoon found the back of the net for the third off an assist from Jay Lanigan (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack). The Falcons then managed to go on a five-goal run to end the quarter with a 6-3 lead.Â
- The second quarter began similarly to the first with a Falcons score by Chad Teresky at 11:23. The Blazer defense held off the Falcons with a strong man-down stand transitioning into a McDermott goal following a Hayek assist. With only a minute and 33 seconds left in the first half, Messiah tacked on another goal to make the score 8-4 at halftime.Â
- Â The Blazers started what would be a back-and-forth battle with a goal by Muldoon in the opening minute of the third quarter. A minute later Messiah's Mike McKnelly scored to regain its four-point lead. The next minute Lanigan found the back of the net to make the score 6-9. With just under nine minutes left in the quarter, Teresky took advantage of a man up opportunity from his score for the Falcons. Then with five minutes left in the quarter, Dudziak made a crucial save at the doorstep and then dished out a pass to Hayek who scored a full field goal on an open Messiah net. Closing out the third each team scored one goal each as the scoreboard read 11-8 heading into the the final quarter of play.Â
- Three minutes into the fourth McDermott scored a goal for Hood. Following the goal Flok added another to bring the Blazers within just one point of the Falcons. Messiah managed to score two more goals to gain a three-point cushion. Muldoon followed the Falcon's goals with one of his own and then Messiah's Jesse Lynch snuck one in to make it 14-11. With little time left the Blazers showed hopes of a comeback bid with another Muldoon goal; however, time would not favor Hood as the Blazers fell to the Falcons 14-12. Â
