FREDERICK, Md. – The women's basketball team faced off against Bryn Mawr College in a low scoring affair winning 38-30, allowing the least amount of points by an opponent since 2021 on Saturday afternoon.

Serenity Ritchie (Martinsburg, W.V./Martinsburg) led all Blazers in scoring with 11 points and added five rebounds in the contest.
Jaylah Putman (Jacksonville, Fla./Long Reach) had eight points and was very active on defense with five steals.
Maya Gordon (Towson, Md./Loch Raven) distributed the ball very well, leading the team in assists with five, and grabbing six rebounds.
How it Happened
The Blazers with the home court advantage jumped out to an earlier 4-0 lead to set the tone for the visiting Owls.
The Owls battled through the rest of the first quarter, hitting key shots to slow down the momentum of the Blazers.
Headed into halftime, Hood led Bryn Mawr 22-20.
Bryn Mawr started the second half more aggressive and tied it early into the third quarter 22-22.
The Owls extended their lead to three after a clutch three point shot was made.
Hood weathered the storm and respond with baskets of their own to go on a 10-0 run to end the third with a 32-25 advantage.
Despite Bryn Mawr's attempts to get back into the game, Hood would hold them off for the remainder of the game and claim another victory early into the season.
"I like the way we have been moving the ball around." says head coach DeRonte Polite, "Despite good ball movement, we still need more shots to go down."
Analysis
Hood held the advantage for points in the paint 18-12.
Bryn Mawr took the edge in second chance points 9-2.
For the Opponent
Jenny Briggs led the Owls with 10 points.
Hannah Mack had five blocks in the contest.
