Field Hockey decorated with conference honors

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Field Hockey filled the all-conference honors with five selections on both ends of the field. Abby Chiavetta (San Jose, Calif./Leland) leads with first team while Madeline Moreno (Mansfield, N.J./Warren Hills Regional), Grace Guy (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) and Bianca Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) land second. Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) rounds out the Blazers with an honorable mention bid.

Abby Chiavetta (San Jose, Calif./Leland) earns First Team honors for her all-around pesky play. She was the core of the defense that was the master of disrupting opponents offensive possessions, covering the entire field and laying her body on the line to cause havoc. Chiavetta made 13 defensive saves ranking third in the country and second in conference.

Madeline Moreno (Mansfield, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) was the go-to when the Blazers needed a heavy hit from the arc on the penalty corners but also was an advantage on the defensive end being a goalies' best friend. She totaled 18 defensive saves which was the statistical leader throughout the country.

Grace Guy (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) tied the single season program record for wins with six in her final year of play and almost an 80 percent save percentage. What we saw from Guy this season were so many plays to remember with diving saves to preserve leads late and performances like hers in the shootout against Roanoke that brought the team to new heights.

Bianca Scally (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Thousand Oaks) had a goal in her first three conference games this season and was a difference on the field with the way she maneuvered through the defense with precise stickwork that conference foes recognized.

Kate Haufe (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) led the squad with goals this season (9)  and carried the team through nonconference play with seven of coming during that span. Haufe continued that success in conference play with goals against both Alvernia and Messiah.
