WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Hood College women's basketball team could not keep pace with non-conference opponent Waynesburg University, falling 86-54 on the road.

How it Happened
Waynesburg got out to a 9-0 start, but Hood rallied and fought back to make it a 12-9 deficit with just under four minutes to play. The Yellow Jackets tried to pull away again, but a 6-2 run from the Blazers once again cut the deficit to just three at the end of the quarter.
A
Nyjah Harris (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) layup made it an 18-17 game, but Waynesburg began to slowly pull away after, scoring two baskets for each one Hood managed to get. By the end of the half, the Blazers were looking at a 39-30 disadvantage.
The Yellow Jackets kept their momentum going coming out for the second half, starting the third quarter with a 13-4 run. A pair of free throws with 1:26 left in the quarter made it a 58-38 game in favor of the home team, and the Blazers found themselves down 22 heading into the fourth quarter.
It would be a 30-point lead for Waynesburg after it scored the first eight points of the fourth, and Hood would not be able to spark a monster comeback on the road, eventually falling 86-54 when the buzzer sounded.
For the Opponent
Kalista Friday led the Yellow Jackets with 25 points, shooting 9-9 from the field.
Tori Wesolowski ended the game with seven rebounds.
Analysis
The Yellow Jackets shot 51% from the field and 28% from three-point range, while the Blazers went 41% from the field and 10% from beyond the arc.
Waynesburg's bench outscored Hood's 24-10.
The Yellow Jackets converted turnovers into 15 points, compared to just 12 points from the Blazers.
