How it Happened
- The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, starting off the match on a 4-0 start. Wiley found the back of the net with 3:46 left in the first quarter, assisted by Connor Flok (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus). Messiah returned the favor with a three-goal run to end the quarter going up to the Blazers 7-1.
- Starting out the second quarter the Falcons tackled on two more goals in the opening eight minutes to gain an eight-goal lead. Then with a minute and thirty-six seconds left in the first half Wiley scored his second on the day after receiving a pass from Aden Sievert (Littleton, Colo./Columbine) to cut Messiah's lead to seven points. However, the following play the Falcon's capitalized on a faceoff violation with just over thirty seconds remaining in the half that resulted in a Ben Ferrell goal. As the teams were heading into their respective huddles the score was 10-2.
- The second half proved to be better quarters for the Blazers offensively. Although Ferrell managed to start the quarter with another goal, Hood responded with three more of their own. The Blazer's three goal run started with none other than Wiley who took a strike in the twelfth minute of the quarter. Following up on his third goal he added another to the stat sheet after a successful clear. Capping out the run Lanigan found the back of the net after Wiley decided to share the wealth bringing the Blazers within six points of the Falcons. Before the end of the third Messiah added on two more to solidify the eight-goal deficit for Hood heading into the final quarter of play.
- Staring out the fourth quarter the Blazers looked to create a comeback bid. As the team opened the period Lanigan netted his second on the day then two minutes later Aidan Gilsdorf (Frederick, Md./Gov Thomas Johnson) caught a pass from Isiac Nafziger (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) to bring the Blazers within six points of the Falcons once again. Although Hood had good offensive looks in this quarter the shots would not fall. For the Falcons; however, the team managed to add on two more goals including a buzzer beating cheap shot from Micheal Cook with two seconds remaining in regulation. Talk about beating a dead horse. As the final buzzer sounded Messiah pulled out a win over Hood 15-7.
