FREDERICK, Md. – The Hood College men's lacrosse team could not recapture its mojo from the first quarter played Wednesday night, as the Blazers fell to Stevenson University 21-2 after playing the final three quarters Friday.
Inside the Box Score
JT Harich (Point of Rocks, MD./Brunswick) and
Deegan Workman (Chattanooga, Tenn./Soddy Daisy) scored for Hood, both of them on the man advantage.
Isiac Nafziger (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) assisted on both goals.
Trent Leuba (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) made nine saves in 34 minutes of action before
Calvin Morris (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) finished the remaining 26, making 11 saves of his own.
Lucas Strand (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) had four ground ball pickups
How it Happened
After the start of the game was delayed for an hour and a half Wednesday night, the two teams were finally able to play the first quarter, and against the odds, the Blazers held strong and allowed Harich to rip a shot home less than four minutes in. The
Mustangs were able to tie the game and then take the lead with a 1:32 to play, but after a shot from
Nick Horton (Aston, Pa/Sun Valley) was barely kept out by the goalie, the period ended with Hood feeling good.
The continuous lightning strikes and thunder in the area prevented the game from being completed that night though, and after the teams resumed play Friday night, the momentum had completely shifted to Stevenson as it rattled off nine straight goals in the second quarter to head into halftime with an 11-1 advantage.
Unfortunately for the Blazers, things did not get better in the second half, as they were outscored 10-1 in the final two quarters to be handed a tough conference loss at home.
For the Opponent
Darrell Curtis scored seven goals.
Hunter Bryant picked up four ground balls.
Notes
Hood drops to 5-4 (0-1), while Stevenson improves to 3-7 (2-0).
