FREDERICK, Md. – Despite late game heroics, the Hood College field hockey team fell to #19 Shenandoah University 2-1 on Wednesday night.

How it Happened
Starting out the contest, both the Blazers and Hornets had quality looks at the opposing goals. As the period closed, a Shenandoah player found herself sidelined after an infraction that led to her getting a green card.
As the second quarter commenced, Shenandoah's offense was persistent with quality shots on goal; however, the Blazer defense led by Wallin had other plans. Wallin finished the half with four saves.
Continuing on to the second half, the Hornets offense eventually got the ball rolling. After Wallin added four more saves to the stat sheet, she would have to face Shenandoah's Camryn DeLeva one-on-on for a penalty stroke. DeLeva ended up getting the best of Wallin as the Hornets took the lead 1-0.
Heading into the final quarter of play Hood showed off their offensive capabilities as the Blazers stampeded past the Hornets defense on a full field fast break. After entering the scoring circle
Lillie Kodrin (Ijamsville, Md./Oakdale) dished the ball to Parkinson and she managed to find the back of the Hornets net tying the game up at 1.
Unfortunately for the Blazers, the team could not celebrate long as seven minutes later DeLeva earned herself another penalty shot. Similar to her last DeLeva was able to capitalize and put ranked #19 Shenandoah up over Hood with a final score of 2-1.

DeLeva scored both goals for the Hornets.
Cassidy Alexander made four saves in the win.
Analysis
Shenandoah outshot Hood 18-9.
The Hornets had nine penalty corners to the Blazers' five.
Shenandoah had the only green card in the game.
Notes
The Blazers drop to 1-2 overall, while the Hornets improve to 3-0 overall.
