Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - Hood College fell 5-0 to No. 19 Lebanon Valley in the Commonwealth Conference opener for both teams.
The two teams were scoreless in the first 15 minutes before the Dutchmen's Lyndee Sheaffer scored the first goal off an assist from Kelsey Heck. The Blazers had their best chance for a goal when Alexis Briscoe (Columbia, Md. / Long Reach) had a breakaway in the 22nd minute, but LVC keeper Kendra Moll made the save.
Hood trailed 3-0 at the half after a goal by Brittany Fleisher and Sheaffer's second score of the game.
Megan Arnst and Kristen Garman tallied goals for the Dutchmen in the second half to ice the game.
Emily Richardson's (Sykesville, Md. / Century) defensive save in 67th minute prevented another goal for Lebanon Valley. Richardson ranks fifth among active Division III players in defensive saves with 23.
Alexa Rubano (Wallingford, Conn. / Lyman Hall) stopped five shots in the first 54 minutes and Jessica Sedgwick (Fairfield, Conn. / Cushing Academy) finished the game with three. Kendra Moll made two saves for the Dutchmen in 54 minutes before giving way to three reserves.
The Blazers look to get back in the win column when they play Wilson College on September 30.
